Rupiah Weakening Encourages Increasing of Credit Growth

Annual credit growth surging , rated Bank Indonesia caused by the increase in foreign currency loans due to the strengthening of the nominal exchange rate of the U.S. dollar against the rupiah . Bank of Indonesia ( BI ) rate is still quite high growth in bank credit is more due to an increase in credit nominal foreign exchange (forex ) due to the weakening of the exchange rate due to the strengthening of the U.S. dollar a few times lately .

" While this is indeed that of the existing numbers on the rise this week , but it may be due to increase in the exchange rate , " said deputy governor Halim Alam , told reporters at the Supreme Court Building , Jakarta , Thursday, October 3, 2013 .

The central bank has not released the data banks for the month of August and September , but from Bank of Indonesia's statistical data , bank credit growth of 22.3 % in one year, from Rp 2470.11 trillion in July 2012 , increase to Rp 3021.12 trillion in July 2013 . Increased if compared to the annual growth in June was 20.63 % , from Rp 2452.85  to Rp 2959.12 trillion trillion.

Especially for foreign currency credit , totaled Rp 470 , 66 trillion as of July 2013, a growth of 18.98 % in one year Rp 395.56 trillion in July 2013 . Compared to the annual growth in the previous month that only 13.83 % from Rp 401.66 trillion in June 2012 , to Rp 457.24 trillion in June 2013 .

"So if discarded elements of the rate , then the credit expansion is relatively stable at around 20-21 % , " said Halim ....
