Mandiri Bank Enlarges the Portion of SME Loans

Business segment of small and medium enterprise (SME) or small and medium enterprises (SMEs) is still promising to work on the banking industry. PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) expressed readiness strengthens businesses in the SME segment by expanding the size of the segment in question.


Vice President Director of Mandiri Bank, Riswinandi say, in the Indonesian market for the SME segment is still very large, especially when compared with other countries. This is reflected in how the bank owned by a foreign national who has entered into the segment.

"For the Mandiri Bank as bank-owned SOEs must have a desire to strengthen the business," said Riswinandi, in a press conference Investor Summit and Capital Market Expo 2014, in Jakarta, Wednesday, September 17, 2014.

In the years 2008 to 2010, the Mandiri Bank's business portfolio recorded 26% for retail and the rest is wholesale (corporate). Looking ahead, the company seeks to keep the portion to 65% for wholesale while the retail portion was at 35%.

Up to now, the SME Mandiri Bank has grown Rp32 trillion. Of the acquisition, the new contributing as much as 7% of total bank assets. If associated with branchless banking program, it is estimated that number could continue to rise over time.
